Oakridge Activities

This past July 9th, Oakridge held a public baptism in Lake Michigan. The weather was nice temperature wise but the water was wavy and cold! But a praiseful time was still enjoyed by all.

The youth at Oakridge Baptist are always up to something wild and crazy! They somehow manage to have a lot of fun (fun in the Lord, that is).

In addition to the many fun things that keep the youth occupied, they also are involved in many Christain-building activities.

Each year, Oakridge is involved with Samaritans Purse. Samaritans Purse gives out shoeboxes filled with goodies to needy children at Christmas time. This year Oakridge was the focal point for collecting the filled boxes from area churches.

Our Awana program runs from September through April. In April, we reward the kids for all of their hard work with a fair. There are guessing games, arcade and carnival-type games, food and fun for all. The year ends with the Awards Ceremony where we honor our clubbers' achievements.

Each year the Awana program sponsors a great activity call the 'Great Prix'. The kids spend months putting together their 'hot rod' to race.

The kids (and parents!) always have a great time and there are many winners. I hear they are already planning for next years 'race'!

Vacation Bible School - Each summer for one week, Oakridge Baptist Church hosts Vacation Bible School. This year, Vacation Bible School was held in the evening from 6:00 until 8:30. The theme for our 2006 Vacation Bible School was 'Fiesta'. The kids enjoyed meeting new types of animal friends. There were great skits, good fun and exciting Bible lessons.

Here are some more pictures of our "Fiesta" vacation bible school this summer. Again, we had games, puppet shows, singing, and of course, learning about our Lord and Savior: Jesus Christ. Please plan on joining us next year.

Even the adult helpers got caught up in the exciting fun!

Each year in May, a group of men and women go up to Lake Ellen camp in the upper peninsula to help build, clean, fix and what ever else needs to be done.

It's very hard work but everyone enjoys the work, fellowship and satisfaction from helping God's Kingdom grow.

For the past two years, Oakridge Baptist has sponsored a 'comfort' station at the Venetian Festival.
